The first presenter for the show was Tony Blackburn, speaking the very first words on the show in 1973 and lasted up to nearly 6 years. Many more DJ's have since presented the Breakfast Show, a famous one being Chris Moyles, having his The Chris Moyles Show for over 8 years making him the longest-serving Radio 1 Breakfast Show presenter.

The show used to run 6 days a week until Feb 1968, when it turned to 5 days a week until June 2018, when the Friday show was dropped and put into their weekend schedule, the Weekend Breakfast.
